Mais Caminhos and the communities in Rio de Janeiro
Mais Caminhos’ kids comes from families who don’t have enough money to live in a safe place in Rio, that’s why they live in the favelas. These favelas are constantly in danger because of the drug trafficking presence and police confrontation. When shootings start, volunteers need to take care of the kids until it’s safe for them to come home. It’s a scary scenery and yet to common for these kids.
Kids of Mais Caminhos will participate on a cultural exchange program called Brave Kids, which aims to support vulnerable young people through artistic activities. Our kids will represent Brazil and its culture, and also learn a lot about other countries and their traditions.
With this blog post, you will be updated about Mais Caminhos’ activities and what’s going on with our program lately. Besides the Complementary Education, which provides English lessons, theatre classes and social emotional learning for unprivileged kids, we are also helping young people with exchange and scholarship programs and support for families in need.
