For over 15 years, Caminhos has been welcoming international students funded by a wide range of grants and fellowships. We are an officially recognized language institute, authorized to design tailor-made programs that meet the specific requirements of your grant or university.
Looking for a Scholarship to Learn Portuguese?
Caminhos regularly receives students supported by the U.S. Department of Education’s Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship Program, the BOREN Scholarship, and other U.S. fellowships and funding schemes. Over the years, we have proudly taught students from institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Delaware, the University of Chicago, and the University of Michigan.
Depending on your fellowship’s requirements, we can create a program with 120 or 140 hours of instruction, including the academic structure, documentation, and attendance verification your university needs. Whether you require an intensive summer course, a language & culture immersion, or a longer academic term that includes volunteering or research components, we can design a program that perfectly aligns with your grant’s criteria and your learning objectives.

🌍 Social Commitment & Scholarships
At Caminhos, we believe that education should create opportunities for everyone. Through the income generated by our language courses, we support underprivileged Brazilian youth via our social project Mais Caminhos. While we generally do not offer scholarships directly to international students, we sometimes provide support to local Brazilian students from low-income backgrounds.
In addition, we occasionally welcome students from refugee backgrounds, developing countries, or social projects who need to learn Brazilian Portuguese. Whenever possible, we allow them to join our regular group classes free of charge or at a reduced cost. By studying with Caminhos, you are not only improving your Portuguese, you are also contributing to a social cause that helps young Brazilians build a better future.
